February In Review
February was an exciting month for the Airpower Foundation as we participated in many events that support our mission of providing grants for our military members, veterans and their families.
100 Vets Who Give a Damn
Everett Alvarez Jr. is a Veteran United States Navy officer who endured one of the longest periods as a Prisoner of War in U.S. military history. Alvarez was the first U.S. pilot to be shot down and detained during the Vietnam War and spent over eight years in captivity, making him the longest-held aviator U.S. POW.
Everett spoke at the 100 Vets Who Give A Damn Event at the C.R. Smith Museum and his story is a powerful reminder of American heroism, loyalty, and perseverance.
The Airpower Foundation had the opportunity to set up a table and sell the Commemorative POW bracelets along with the now sold-out Hanoi Taxi prints to raise funds for the NAMPOW’s 50th Anniversary Return to Freedom Reunion this spring.

Let’s help give our former Vietnam War POW’s the reunion of a lifetime.
American Fallen Soldiers Project Presentation
The American Fallen Soldiers Project invited the Airpower Foundation for their newest portrait presentation for fallen Navy SEAL David Metcalf.
One of the most moving parts of Sky Ball XX was when the American Fallen Soldiers Project presented the portrait for fallen Navy Sailor ITSN Timothy Gauna.
Thanks to the generosity of many sponsors, another Gold Star Family has a beautiful tribute of their loved one.
We were honored to be present for such a special moment.
Board Activities
Your Airpower Foundation Board members met this month to review and fund grants that support some wonderful organizations that make a large impact on our military communities.
The Board voted again to support a long term partner, the North Texas Patriot Anglers. The impact that this organization has for veterans is immeasurable. The Airpower Foundation is committed to fighting for our Veterans mental health and winning the war against PTSD and this organization is a great steward of that.
