SKYBALL VOLUNTEERS

 

Volunteer Team Positions

 

Auction Team

Volunteer Time: 9am to 12n and 9pm to 11pm

Location: Globe Life Field

Age: 16 and over

Dress: 9am shift Casual attire including jeans, shorts, t-shirts and comfortable shoes.

9pm shift Business Casual

Task: 9am shift: unload and set up auction. 9pm shift: Looking for outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers with the ability to mingle and guide guests through the silent auction process. You will be responsible for approaching tables and individuals to ensure they are informed about the items available and how they can register online, using their phones, or with the tablets provided to you.  We are really excited about this additional element to the Sky Ball as it is another opportunity to support our servicemen and their families. Assist guest with purchased items to vehicles if needed.

Decorations

Volunteer Time: Wednesday 5pm – 9pm

Location: Globe Life Field

Age: 14 and over

Dress: Casual attire including jeans, shorts, t-shirts and comfortable shoes.  No flip flops.

Task: The decorations committee is responsible for preparing the event area for Sky Ball.  Tasks include dressing the tables with flowers, programs, and other decorations, setting the tables for dinner service and ensuring that all final touches are completed.

Guest Services

Volunteer Time: 4:00 p.m.  

Location: Globe Life Field

Age: 18 and over

Dress: White Blouses, Black/Navy Slacks or Skirt for ladies, comfortable shoes

Task:  Welcome guest to the Sky Ball and assist them to their tables or any other needs they may have.  Some will meet in tunnel.  Assist guest at photo booth. Varies assignments.

Friday Unload Team

Volunteer Time: 10am to 12n

Location: Airpower Office, 1601 Lamar Ave. # 100 Arlington, TX

Age: 16 and over

Dress: Casual attire including jeans, shorts, t-shirts and comfortable shoes. 

Task: Unload items from U Haul to Airpower Office

Hotel Team

Time Volunteer: TBD

Location:

Age: 18 and over

Dress: Business Attire

Task:  Staff station in hotel lobby to extend a warm Sky Ball welcome as VIP guests arrive, act as VIP Concierge, coordinate with Support Operations command center, coordinate distribution of keepsake gifts for VIP’s in hotel rooms, assist with on-line flight check-in and print boarding pass as requested, staff and monitor admittance to hotel’s private VIP hospitality suite, and monitor admittance to “invitation only” wrap party at hotel

Registration Team

Time Volunteer: 4pm

Location: Globe Life Field

Age: 18 and over

Dress: Black polo, dress jean, boots or comfort dress shoe

Task: Looking for outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers to meet and greet our honored guest as they arrive at Sky Ball.  Check tickets and guide them to appropriate locations.

Swag Table

Time Volunteer: TBD

Location: Globe Life Field

Age: 16 and over

Dress: Black polo, dress jean, boots or comfort dress shoe

Task: Looking for outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers with the ability to upsell and chat with guests to encourage them to buy Sky Ball swag, including t-shirts, bags, etc. . There will be three different opportunities to volunteer.  Setup, sales and breakdown. Setup volunteers will arrive early and help get the merchandise to the correct location and get the tables merchandised to look appealing, as well as organizing overstock in a manner to make it easily accessible for re-stocking throughout the event.  Sales volunteers will help guests decide what to purchase and offer add-on items in order to increase the transaction amount. We will be accepting both cash and cards. Chairs and breaks will be provided.  The Breakdown volunteers will be staying or arriving after the event, to help pack up unsold merchandise and get it to the location for transport back to the Airpower office.  These volunteers may also be asked to help other teams with breakdown and cleanup if needed. 

Table Ambassadors

Volunteer Time: 3pm to 11pm

Location: Globe Life Field

Age: 18 and over

Dress; Black and comfortable walking/non-skid shoes.  If there are specific additional requirements, they will be simple and likely provided.

Task: Table Ambassadors are assigned specific tables to cheerfully monitor and “host”.  Their job is to ensure the guests have the best time possible and their needs (and wants as can be granted) are taken care of, as well as assist paid wait staff in service and cleanup of tables.  Time commitment is mostly day of event (8-9 hours), but requires a few reading/replies of emails leading up to event.

Requirements:  Cheerful, service oriented volunteer.  At least 18 years old or working with an adult.  Able to stand for 8-10 hour.  Requires some lifting.  May require TABC license (unless under 21) see contracts with vendors/venue.  Dress code as designated, typically all black and comfortable walking/non-skid shoes.

Transportation

Age: 18 and over (drivers must be at least 25 years old and have a valid driver’s license)

Dress: Business Casual

This committee includes multiple positions that volunteers may be assigned.  Below is an overview of possible positions:

Task of Driver/Escort: Provide transport for Medal of Honor Recipients, Actors/Actresses, Singers, Musicians and other important VIP’s from the time they arrive at DFW until they depart.  The honor and privilege of these important VIPs be driven cannot be overstated. Your duties will include: Transporting them to and from the airport, to and from Globe Life Field for events and for any other events that arise for Skyball.  Your hours may vary, and you will work out of the Command Center at the S.  The Command Center is the Sheraton Arlington no better satisfaction than knowing you were a part of getting them there on time.  There is the added bonus of getting to meet and talk to the Medal of Honor Recipients and listening to them tell their stories. It is important to remember that the time and efforts of the MOH Recipients and VIPs are being donated to the overall cause of Skyball and raising money for all the charities that Skyball supports.

Task of Administrative Assistant: Assist with scheduling drivers and manning the operations line.  Sabre knowledge is recommended, but not required.

Tear Down

Volunteer Time: 10pm to 12n

Location: Globe Life Field

Age: 16 and over

Dress: Casual attire including jeans, shorts, t-shirts and comfortable shoes. 

Task: Tear down of all event items to be place on van to transport back to Airpower office. Follow instructions from leads on items that belong to Airpower Office. Transport of excess supplies and items from the Globe Life Field to Airpower Office.

Airport Meet & Greet


Volunteer Time: Various times Wednesday -Thursday- Friday (4 /6/8 hour shifts available from early morning to late evening, depending on the arrival times of our guests)

Location: DFW Airport

Age: 16 and over (prefer young adults are accompanied by a chaperone)
Dress: AA uniform for Flight Attendants, Pilots, Gate Agents and Ground Personnel. Business casual for all others. Collared shirts, dress pants, skirts, dresses, or  blouses are the expectation.  Due to the high status of the honored guests being met and the high visibility of our group, all volunteers need to be professional in their attire.

Task: The Airport Meet & Greet Volunteers will be the first impression our Sky Ball guests receive upon arrival.  It will be imperative that the group be present at the gate 10 minutes prior to arrival of the aircraft to assist with any organization, presentation and requested assistance. Those volunteers meeting a Medal of Honor guest will be asked to read his official citation prior to arrival and invite all present to join in honoring the recipient. Volunteers will escort all guests to baggage claim and deliver to the waiting transportation team members.
