TD Smyers is a career leader with over 30 years of toplevel executive experience across all three major economic sectors. He now leverages his experience as a succession coach and advisor – working with executives to lead boldly, especially those new to the top job and those preparing for it.

Before becoming a coach and advisor, TD took a two-year career pause to cruise the US Atlantic Coast, Bahamas, and Caribbean with his wife Barbara aboard the sailing catamaran La Vie Dansante.

The unique perspective TD brings to leadership coaching was shaped by diverse community service experience, including roles as President & CEO at United Way of Tarrant County; Regional CEO at the North Texas American Red Cross and a 31-year career in the United States Navy, from which he retired in 2011 at the rank of
Captain. TD’s final role in uniform was serving as Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base. Prior to taking command of NAS Fort Worth JRB, TD’s uniformed service included tours as Director of Congressional Affairs and Director of Collaborative Warfare for Navy Aviation at the Pentagon, and Command of Patrol Squadron Sixty-Two in Jacksonville, Florida.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the United States Naval Academy and a master’s degree in Resource Strategy from the National Defense University’s Eisenhower School. TD is a graduate of Leadership North Texas and Leadership Fort Worth’s LeaderPrime. He’s served on the boards of numerous civic organizations and led civilian support of USS Fort Worth and her Sailors as Chair of the Commissioning Committee. The Secretary of the Navy awarded TD the Legion of Merit for his innovative leadership of NAS Fort Worth, and The Fort Worth Business Press recognized him as the City’s Top Non-Profit CEO in 2019.
