Airpower Foundation announces new member to the Foundation’s Board of Directors

Fort Worth, Texas — The Airpower Foundation today announced the appointment of Wanda Cox to the Board of Directors. This appointment brings a valuable asset to the board as the Foundation continues to grow and expand our nationwide support.
“Wanda has been instrumental in assisting the Foundation grow financially and expanding our national reach in support of our nation’s military and their families,” said Sid Eppes, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Wanda’s extensive experience and knowledge about the Foundation, our sponsors, and donors, makes her an invaluable asset as a Member of the Board of Directors.”
Wanda Cox has been working with the Airpower Foundation for over 10 years as a volunteer and then was contracted to serve as the Foundation’s Executive Director. Her extensive background and skills in corporate marketing and negotiations has made her a perfect fit for the growth of the Airpower Foundation over these years. She is dedicated to finding the best programs and raising the much-needed funds to enable the Airpower Foundation to grant the money for the beneficiary organizations that are making such a difference in our military family’s lives. As a military spouse this mission is close to her heart.
In addition to working with non-profits, Wanda is a Realtor and prides herself in her work in assisting military families transitioning in and out of our local community. Wanda has been married to Col (ret) Bruce Cox for 12 years and the mother of a blended family of 6 with 4 grandchildren and looking forward to 2 more next spring.
One of Wanda’s favorite stories of why she became involved with the Airpower Foundation was a date with Bruce. That date to Sky Ball X forever changed Wanda’s life. She saw a man (Gary Linfoot) go up the stage stairs in his new iBOT wheelchair and was taken by the emotion. She has been giving back ever since.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with its roots dating back to 1958, when Air Force General Curtis LeMay and businessman/philanthropist Frank Kent created the Fort Worth Airpower Council dedicated to supporting the military community at Carswell Air Force Base.
The mission of the Airpower Foundation has grown since its formation in 1999, and is now a nationwide program dedicated to supporting active duty, reserve and National Guard families. Airpower also supports projects to assist wounded, ill or injured service members, children of our fallen military, veterans of previous wars and educational projects along with the Medal of Honor Foundation to make sure the next generation understands the honor and sacrifice of wearing the cloth of this country.
The Airpower Foundation board of directors is a diverse group of professionals who volunteer their time and are dedicated to the proposition that freedom is not free. It is their noble mission to assist deployed military families, wounded, ill or injured service members, and veterans of past wars. They spend countless hours visiting military installations and families, assessing needs and grant requests. They are instrumental in providing leadership to organize and execute numerous projects every year in support of military families.
