American Airlines Sky Ball XII, in support of the Airpower Foundation, held its most successful Sky Ball event to date! The Foundation has set a new fundraising record of just over $1.9 million dollars which will provide much needed support to our nation’s military and their families.
The organization hosted 3 days of events honoring our nation’s military and also supported local schools through our educational outreach programs. A career expo was held to provide jobs to our nation’s veterans and transitioning military members along with the NCOA. The Medal of Honor Foundation provided a workshop for local educators during which the foundation shared their character development program to teach children the importance of citizenship, patriotism, and honor for our great nation. Also, 3,000 children attended the Aviation Expo held in conjunction with our partner DFW International Airport at American Airlines Hangar #2. On Friday evening, thanks to Budweiser and the USO, we hosted a free concert for military, their families, and our volunteers featuring the Randy Rogers Band and Lee Greenwood, with free food provided by Sysco and cooked by Chef Robert Irvine and his culinary team! The 3-day program culminated with our Sky Ball Gala which honored all who served in Korea and also saluted the United States Navy.
The Airpower Foundation would like to sincerely thank all of our sponsors, guests, and over 1,500 volunteers who assisted to make the event possible. We salute you all, and look forward to American Airlines Sky Ball XIII to be held on October 24, 2015 when we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam and salute the United States Air Force!
