American Airlines Sky Ball XV, in Support of the Airpower Foundation, was another record-breaking year on all levels.  With numerous events held over 3 days, people converged from all over the country to gather inside American Airlines Hangar #5 at DFW International Airport, and helped raise nearly $3.2 million in support of our nation’s military and their families. This was all done in conjunction with celebrating these heroes for the sacrifices they made for this country.

Sky Ball XV began with planning meetings starting in January, by our executive planning committee members, who worked hard throughout the year to ensure a successful Veterans Day weekend full of events!

The weekend began on Thursday with the arrival of our Medal of Honor recipients, sponsors, and distinguished guests.  The evening featured the Medal of Honor Society’s Bob Hope Award Gala, presented by the Airpower Foundation.  America’s got talent winner, and Mirage Headliner, Terry Fator, was the recipient of this year’s award.  The event raised $375,000 to benefit the Medal of Honor foundation, to support their Character Development Program.  Legendary entertainer, Tony Orlando, gave our guests an amazing concert to close the evening.

Friday included our annual education outreach program, along with an aviation expo in partnership with DFW International Airport for nearly 3,000 students.  Local area educators also received Medal of Honor Character development program training, and American Airlines hosted a career expo for military, veterans and their families.

Friday evening featured the annual Sky Ball Salute to the Heroes Concert, hosting nearly 6,000 military, veterans, wounded, ill, or injured service members, first responders, their families, and the families of our fallen military heroes.

The Friday concert included performances by America’s Tenor Steve Amerson, America’s Beloved Tenor, Daniel Rodriguez, Terry Fator, and Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band.  Delicious food service was prepared for everyone, while enjoying the entertainment.  Sky Ball Executive Chef, Robert Irvine, personally created and oversaw the meals for the entire weekend serving over 10,000 guests in 3 days. Beverages were also generously provided by Anheuser-Busch for the weekend.

Saturday, Veterans Day, started with a special portrait presentation by Phil Taylor and the American Fallen Soldiers Project. This was followed by a special film screening of Return to the Arizona presented by the WWII Foundation.

Saturday evening kicked off the largest military support event in the nation, American Airlines Sky Ball XV, in Support of the Airpower Foundation!  A Salute to the American Veteran…  How the desks are earned.  With headlining entertainment by the legendary Beach Boys!

Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors, donors, volunteers, and everyone who helps make Sky Ball possible, and helped the Airpower Foundation set a new record in fundraising to further support all those who serve and their families.  Because of you, we are able to provide more of much-needed support across the country.  This 3-day event not only touches so many lives, but also truly changes the lives for everyone involved.
