From Nov 13th through Nov 17th of 2015, American Airlines Veterans Initiatives, MGM Resorts International, the USO, and the Airpower Foundation hosted 80 Wounded Veterans and their significant other to a four day Veteran’s Day weekend celebration in Las Vegas for our 7th Annual ‘Salute to the Troops’. For the seventh year in a row, American Airlines donated a special charter aircraft, which was flown by an all volunteer flight crew of pilots and flight attendants to pick up these wounded warriors and their guests from Ft. Belvior and Bethesda / Walter Reed Medical center, and flew them to Las Vegas where MGM Resorts International rolled out the red carpet for the Veteran’s arrival at the Mirage Hotel; a place they would call home for the next 4 days. Through the coordination efforts of Ms Morgan Popalaski and her team, MGM opened up numerous other Las Vegas Properties to the Wounded Warriors with class and dignity, showing why they are the best hosts in the World! Partners and friends of AA and the Airpower Foundation who made the weekend an absolute success were the USO, Greyhound, Sundance Helicopters, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Fremont Street Experience, The Golden Nugget, Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving, the Pawn Stars, Las Vegas Police and Fire Departments, the Gary Sinise Foundation, Phil Vandel Band, Robynn Shayne, and our special celebrity friends Terry Fator and Gary Sinise who respectively donated special performances for the Veterans and their guests.
