This was the fifth year in a row in which the Airpower Foundation was proud to sponsor the Salute to the Troops wounded service member Veteran’s day weekend trip to Las Vegas along with our good friends at American Airlines, MGM Resorts International and the USO. This annual trip includes a special yellow ribbon charter flight starting at JFK in NY to pick up our first group of injured service members and their guest. From there we stop in Washington DC to pick up more wounded service members attending from Walter Reed/Bethesda naval hospital, and then onto Las Vegas for a heroes welcome by the USO Las Vegas and the employees at the Mirage hotel where our heroes stayed for their Veterans day weekend celebration! Activities over the weekend included a day of Helicopter rides thanks to Sundance Helicopters, a tournament of Kings dinner hosted at the Excalibur Hotel, an amazing Freemont Street Experience concert featuring Phil Vandel and our good friend Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band to close out the night! Other activities included indoor sky diving, a visit to the famous Pawn Stars shop, and a special Veterans day show and meet and greet with the voice of entertainment himself, Terry Fator!
