The Airpower Foundation was honored to help sponsor a welcome dinner reception for the families and friends of the American Airlines flight crew members who passed on September 11, 2001. They were all in town for a special ceremony at the C.R. Smith museum for the return of a pair of Flight Attendant wings and a union pin that were found in the wreckage of flight 77 which struck the pentagon on that tragic day. Thanks to the efforts of Joan Cote, center director of the USO in Delaware, the wings and pin were presented to American Airlines CEO Tom Horton in October 2013, and were placed in the museum at the official dedication ceremony held on January 30, 2014. The day concluded with a trip to the 9/11 flight crew memorial to remember all those lost that day. We would also like to thank our friends at the DFW Westin for hosting everyone.
